    Presentation Title:

    The Thinking Leader

    Synopsis:

‘You can’t get out of a problem with the same thinking that got you into it’ Wakefield (2006)

It is becoming more common knowledge, that much of what it takes to be a great leader, involves understanding how our underlying ‘thoughts’ and ‘emotions’ rule our behaviour.  It is not enough to take external solution-focused approaches to really improve an individual’s problem-solving, decision-making, relationships and ultimately performance (and that of others).

Increasing leaders’ flexibility in terms of interpretations and behaviours is a key part in increasing leadership performance (Good, Yageneh & Yageneh, 2010).

The thing is, that most people have not been taught to notice how their beliefs (garnered from their parents, teachers and society) has impacted the way they think, and how that impacts on their outward facing behaviour (e.g. decision-making, colleaboration etc).  Most people have not been taught to understand how their brain works and the connection between mind and body.

“In order to be the master of your life, you must first recognize that you are the rightful master of your brain, its owner and operator.”
    Ilchi Lee

In spite of great strategy, ingenious products and services, if leaders fail to have awareness of how they think, and how they manage their mental and emotional states, then great potential is untapped and the whole business is and will continue to significantly underperform compared to what might be possible.

This is an active participation talk/ workshop that will give particpants some real tools to walk away with and take into their daily lives.
